Sustainder expands into German market

Dutch smart-lighting specialist Sustainder has taken the first step in its international growth ambitions with the opening of an office in Germany.

Sustainder sees the German market as offering further significant opportunities for the company’s innovative smart lighting and smart city products and services. Germany is the second market in which the company is active, and its first international market.

The establishment of Sustainder Deutschland GmbH, in Berlin, along with an experienced, seven-person German sales team, means Sustainder can now start serving large and small municipalities throughout the country. The German team will be expanded this summer with the addition of two more sales managers.

Frank Wolfgramm, Sustainder’s sales director for Germany, said: “Many German municipalities face problems managing and maintaining often outdated public lighting. Our new generation of smart luminaires offer a future-proof solution for everyone involved in managing public spaces.”

Production in Emmen

Sustainder’s smart luminaires for Germany will be manufactured in the company’s own facility in Emmen, the Netherlands, close to the German border. Thanks to this, Sustainder will be able to serve its customers in Germany as quickly and flexibly as it already serves its customers in the Netherlands.

The expansion into Germany reflects Sustainder’s broader growth strategy. This aims to see the company being active in at least five markets within three to five years, and holding a significant market share in each.
